Coffee Themed Wedding
I had a coffee-themed wedding! My husband wanted an earlier day wedding for multiple reasons. The number one reason was to be able to spend quality time as husband and wife after our wedding without being overly exhausted. It also allowed us to get a good start on our honeymoon travels. We also decided on a late-morning wedding because we knew we would be having a sober wedding. Extreme alcoholism runs strongly in my family, and we didn’t want to have a day that was ruined by poor behavior. We also have a lot of conservative family members, so it would have been an awkward day for everyone if we had opted to have a wedding with alcohol. We chose to have a sober wedding with all these factors in mind!
We did a lot of things to make our wedding a reflection of us, and I’m going to share the details of how we brought our coffee shop vision to life throughout our entire wedding. Our first date was at Starbucks, so we thought it would be cute to have coffee elements throughout our wedding. Our save the dates were hand designed by my husband to say, “Come espresso your love with us!” Our invitations were designed with hot and iced coffee foil imprints. We even designed a logo for our invitations and stamped it onto coffee sleeves at our wedding. We decided to get the same logo tattooed on our arm on our honeymoon.
COFFEE BAR
We had a coffee bar with hot and iced coffee and a multitude of syrups, sauces, and creamers. I got a lot of glass containers from Hobby Lobby and Michaels that made the bar seem really posh and cute. I’m proud of how well our coffee shop vibe came to life for my coffee-themed wedding.
WAFFLE BAR
We chose to have a waffle and parfait bar for our food. We wanted something light and easy. We had an assortment of custom syrups that I bought on Etsy, and they were a huge hit! We had yogurt, fruit, and different granolas to make the perfect parfait bowl. I was pleased with my food choice, and I got a lot of compliments on the uniqueness and ease of my menu.
COFFEE AND BREAKFAST-THEMED CUPCAKES
My aunt made my cupcakes, and we made five different flavors. We had traditional espresso, caramel macchiato, mocha, french toast with bacon, and blueberry strudel. Our cake was espresso flavored and covered in chocolate-covered espresso beans. It was absolutely delicious, and the unique flavors were a huge hit with everyone in attendance!
CENTERPIECES
My table centerpieces were brown paper sacks with windows filled with coffee beans. We put fairy lights in the coffee bean bags to illuminate them and give them a romantic feel. It was a sweet touch that made our venue smell so good, and it is probably one of my favorite details of my coffee-themed wedding. Apparently, no good photos were taken of the centerpieces so this poor-quality image will have to do. On that same note, check out my post about everything that I didn’t like about my wedding. There’s quite a bit I would do much differently.
FRENCH PRESS UNITY CEREMONY
The most critiqued element of my coffee-themed wedding was my unity ceremony. I did not want to do sand or anything traditional. My husband and I decided to make a cup of french press coffee together and share our first cup of coffee together. We decided that the grounds and water mixing as separate elements into one drink was the perfect symbolism. Many people told me they didn’t understand what I was trying to do, but we absolutely loved it. The coffee was cold and nasty, but it was still an extraordinary memory.
I’m really proud of how sedimental the visions of our day were. We had light dancing and fun conversation. I genuinely don’t feel like our wedding needed alcohol. If you choose to have a sober wedding for any reason, I hope you find unique ways to make your day magical. Until Next Time,
