A Letter to 2022 Couples
Dear 2022 brides, grooms, and married folk;
Can you believe this is your first Christmas season married?! Isn’t it wild how this year is almost over in the blink of an eye? 2022 was such an interesting year. Things are seemingly almost normal but completely different at the same time. December is my personal favorite part of the year. It is a blissful time filled with holiday magic and deep reflection on how life has changed in the past 12 months. I want to give you a chance to reflect with me…
First, I hope your wedding this year was everything you dreamed of. I hope you look back at your day and remember the absolute fireworks of kissing your spouse for the first time. May your soul be set on fire when you reflect on the precious moments with your family and friends. Whether you got married in front of 1 person, 50, or 100 people, I hope every single person made you feel like divine royalty. Every single person deserves to surround themselves with the best support person, even if their family is chosen intentionally instead of blood relation.
Take a few minutes to dance to your first dance song alone in your kitchen with your new spouse! Did you take dance classes before your big day? Did you just wing it? Was it fun and energetic or sedimental and slow? (It can be both! There are no wrong answers here!). Plan a date amidst the businesses of the holidays. Remember to take time to see your spouse. Be kind and gentle with your partner. Sometimes it is challenging to navigate who goes where for big holidays. Remember, you control the traditions you create or continue to follow.
Have you gotten some photos printed? I’m a firm believer in using gorgeous photos as artwork. All that hard work, blood, sweat, and tears deserve to be displayed beautifully in your life. Here’s a solid pro tip: Use a wedding photo as your holiday card. You have it so easy when it comes to the holiday card you send out as your first year married couple!
There is nothing better than building an incredible life with someone who loves you so deeply. I hope you and your spouse are thriving! I hope the first few months of your married life together have filled your soul to the brim with gratitude. However, I am holding space for you if things have been hard. The human experience is complicated, and it’s okay if things aren’t as fantastic as your heart deeply desires.
I see you no matter where you are on your journey with your significant other.
I am confident that 2023 will be a beautiful year for everyone. I can’t wait to see the couples who got married in 2022 continue to grow. I’m here to remind you to embrace change, live adventurously, and date your spouse forever. Romanticize the life you are creating together. Prioritize your peace and make the best out of your situation.
Here’s to a little bit of reflection on this early December day. I hope this letter finds those married folk who need a reminder to slow down and feel gratitude for how much their life has changed this year. Marriage is big! It’s a big deal. Embrace all of the feelings and take a deep breath. Cheers to you, and may this holiday season be a magical one for you.
Until Next Time,
