Must See Places and Things To Do When Visiting The Great State of Washington
A Pacific Northwest wonder. One of my favorite places in the world…Washington State. Whether you’re flying into Seattle for a quick work trip or seeking solace in the outdoors for an adventure elopement, there’s something for everyone here. I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite places in the Seattle, Tacoma, and surrounding areas.
First up, Kerry Park.
Kerry Park is located on a beautiful hillside overlooking the skyline with the perfect view of the Seattle space needle. If you get lucky and find yourself there on a sunny day, it’s the perfect place to sit and enjoy a warm cup of coffee or a book. It is one of my favorite places to get a good view of the city while finding peace away from downtown.
Next up, Olympic Sculpture Park.
Olympic Sculpture Park is the perfect place to walk around when visiting the downtown Seattle area. If you enjoy art, it’s the perfect place to go for a walk with your dog or an evening walk or jog. You have a perfect view of the water and can see and hear the ferrys drifting by. The symmetry and flow of the park is so well thought out and it would be easy to spend an entire day walking around admiring the beauty and artistic makeup of the park.
You might have expected me to say it, but … you can’t visit Seattle and not walk through the iconic Pike Place Public Market.
It’s iconic and it is a MUST SEE. I could spend an entirety of my time here every single time I visit. The views behind the market are some of the best in Seattle. Grab a pastry at Le Panier or a coffee from the Original Starbucks and spend some time absorbing the Seattle experience. I was in Washington for an adventure elopement on this trip and we came to the Pike Place Market for a bouquet of fresh flowers from Pike Place Flowers. It is one of the few places where you can come to enjoy an amazing bite of food, purchase flowers for your wedding or elopement, and enjoy seeing fish be thrown through the air. The market is the perfect activity for a family with children or the perfect place to spend time if waiting out a long layover at SeaTac.
Outside the Seattle area, Priest Point Park is a place I cannot stop re-visiting. It is a must see.
It’s a place where peace is easily found on the trails and it looks like a hand painted masterpiece. Take a walk on the mossy, fern filled trails and find solace in the trees and serene landscape. If you want to enjoy a lunch by the water, you can find several scenic spots that make the perfect picnic location or you can remain engulfed in the forest on the several trails available.
Grab your friends and spend any amount of time on one of Washington’s beautiful lakes.
Last, but certainly not least…there’s a troll in Seattle. You must go visit him.
That’s right, the Fremont Troll. He really does live under a bridge and he’s WAY bigger than I ever expected him to be. If you’d like to see him for yourself the address is N 36th St, Seattle, WA 98103. If walking, this is a very hilly area and I would highly recommend a comfortable shoe option. I was not prepared for the trek up the hill to see him, but it was the perfect place to sit and rest before walking back downtown.
